From House to Home: 5 Tips for Staging Your New or Existing Home

It’s no secret that staging homes for sale have helped sell more than just houses. It can also help you move and decorate your house! The goal here is to create a beautiful home without the hassle of actually having to live in it, all while making it welcoming and comfortable enough so that buyers want to live there once they buy it. If you’re looking for some helpful tips on how to stage your home, keep reading!

1. REMOVE OR REDUCE CLUTTER TO OPEN UP THE HOME SO THERE IS PLENTY OF SPACE IN EACH ROOM.

What you put in a room is just as important as what you do not put in the room. It’s important to strike the balance of pleasing the eye, and also having space for them to move around and feel the space.

If you have a lot of things in one room, it can be overwhelming for buyers. So if they’re not aesthetically pleasing to the eye, get rid of them! It’s better to go with less than more when it comes to staging your home.

2. MAKE SURE ALL ROOMS ARE NEAT AND TIDY- INCLUDING CLOSETS, PANTRIES, STORAGE AREAS, AND EVEN THE GARAGE.

If you’ve lived in your home for years, you’ll probably have some work to do when cleaning out every room. But if you want to sell your house quickly, make sure everything is tidy and organized! All closets should be cleared out (don’t forget the junk drawers!) along with pantries, storage areas, etc. There shouldn’t be any clutter or messiness in these places because it will only turn buyers off from purchasing your home. It is also a great way for you to declutter, and have less when moving to your new home!

3. GET RID OF ALL GAPS BY REARRANGING FURNITURE SO THAT IT’S FLUSH AGAINST WALLS OR CORNERS.

Rearranging the furniture so that it is flush against walls or corners helps to make the rooms look more spacious. Why? Because it makes your eye believe that there is nothing behind or next to the furniture, therefore making a room seem bigger!

Moving around some items completely changes how people perceive space and where they want to be in the home.

4. PUT UP DECORATIONS THAT SUIT YOUR THEME (EX: NATURE FOR A NATURE-THEMED HOME).

Creating a consistent theme will help create a consistent good feeling for the buyer. This helps to make the house feel like a home, rather than just another empty space to look at. It will make it seem cozier and inviting for buyers when they’re looking around.

5. PURCHASE SMALL ITEMS LIKE SCENTS, CANDLES, FRESH FLOWERS, DRIED HERBS, OR SPICES TO MAKE YOUR HOME SMELL GREAT!

Scents that are pleasing are just as important as aesthetics. This is because smells can sometimes affect moods and emotions, which will make buyers feel a certain way about your home.

The tips we’ve provided here will help improve how people perceive space from one room to another, which can have an impact on their decision-making process when viewing your property.
